Larry and his ChainsawFriday, April 17th, 2009
Being born and bred in Bovey Tracey, it is interesting to note the changes around The Edgemoor. Over 50 years ago, as youngsters, my brothers and I used to walk from the town to Haytor or Beck Falls for a day’s picnicking or sledging. On the way I can remember how we carved our initials into the different trees on the way. Some of these trees were the large beeches on the hedge line of The Edgemoor. In the storms of 2008 I am afraid to say these great beeches were either blown down, or had to be felled for safety reasons. I am now chain sawing logs from these trees for the glorious we have in the bistro and bar / lounge. I have been looking for my long ago carved initials but alas, no luck… As a Bovonian through and through, I can bring the local news to you, sometimes serious, usually funny. Just ask (if you dare) for honey bunny.Post A Comment |
