We are informed by guests that the following beaches are very good:
- Blackpool Sands (South West!)
- Bantham - (these first two seem to be everyone`s favourites)
- Bigbury
- Salcombe
- Slapton Sands
- Wembury
- Shaldon - The Ness
- Mothecombe - on the Flete Estate. This is the beach featured in the film International Velvet where she gallops across a beautiful beach below hills and fields. It is privately owned, so not always open
This busy seaside resort is centre point of "The English Riviera " and can provide most of the activities sought in a lively holiday, such as waterskiing, parascending, windsurfing, diving, sailing, fishing trips and excursions. The area around the busy harbour is very pleasant, but the main town can be crowded in summer and traffic in Torquay is often heavy, with parking difficult. There are many shops, pubs, restaurants, nightclubs.
